Ranthambore Tour from Jaipur

Thrilling tiger safari at Ranthambore National Park — India's finest wildlife destination. Only 180 km from Jaipur.

India's Most Celebrated Tiger Reserve

Ranthambore National Park is one of India's most celebrated wildlife destinations and arguably the best place in the world to spot Bengal tigers in the wild. Located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, just 180 km from Jaipur, Ranthambore is famous for tigers that are unusually comfortable in the presence of vehicles — giving visitors some of the most dramatic and photogenic wildlife encounters imaginable.

The park covers an area of 1,334 square kilometers and includes the iconic 10th-century Ranthambore Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) rising dramatically from the jungle floor. Ancient ruins, crumbling temple spires, and forgotten lakeside pavilions form the backdrop to some of the most extraordinary wildlife photography in the world.

Wildlife You Can Spot at Ranthambore

Bengal Tiger: The star attraction. Ranthambore has over 70 tigers, with a high sighting probability year-round. Some of the park's famous tigers — including Arrowhead, Krishna, and Riddhi — have become celebrities in the wildlife photography world. Morning safaris offer the best chance of tiger sightings.

Leopard: Ranthambore has a healthy leopard population. Nocturnal and shy, leopards are harder to spot than tigers but rewarding encounters do happen, particularly in the rocky zones near the fort.

Sloth Bear: Ranthambore is one of the best places in India to spot sloth bears. They are most active during early morning and late afternoon. Sightings near the Ranthambore Fort area are relatively common.

Indian Crocodile (Mugger): The three lakes inside the park — Padam Talao, Malik Talao, and Gyp Talao — are home to large populations of mugger crocodiles, often seen basking on the banks alongside deer and birds.

Sambar Deer: The park has thousands of sambar deer. Their alarm calls (a distinctive bark) are one of the most reliable indicators that a tiger is nearby, making them an important part of the wildlife-watching experience.

Birds: Over 320 species of birds have been recorded at Ranthambore, including the painted stork, Indian stone-curlew, crested serpent eagle, and the endangered Indian skimmer. Birdwatchers will find Ranthambore an incredible destination.

Safari Options at Ranthambore

Canter Safari (20-seater vehicle): More economical option, shared with other tourists. Covers Zones 1-5. Less personalized but the larger vehicle provides a higher viewpoint for photography.

Jeep Safari (6-seater): The premium option for serious wildlife watchers and photographers. Smaller group, more maneuverability, and deeper access into the park zones. We strongly recommend jeep safaris for the best experience.

The park is divided into 10 numbered zones. Zones 1-5 are the core zones with the highest tiger density. Zone 6 and above cover buffer areas with lower tiger probability but excellent birdwatching. We help you book safari slots in the best zones based on current tiger activity reports.

Ranthambore Attractions

Ranthambore Fort — A UNESCO World Heritage Site

The massive Ranthambore Fort stands at the confluence of two rivers at the heart of the national park. Built by the Chahamana dynasty in the 10th century, it housed legendary Rajput rulers and witnessed some of the most dramatic battles in Rajasthan's history. Today, the fort ruins — accessible during safari drives — provide a hauntingly beautiful backdrop to wildlife sightings, particularly when a tiger patrols the fort walls at dawn.

Ranthambore Highlights

Best Time to Visit Ranthambore

The park is open from October 1 to June 30 every year. The best months for tiger sightings are February to May, when the vegetation thins out and tigers are forced to use the lakes and watering holes in the open, making them easier to spot. The winter months (October–January) are also excellent with pleasant weather. The park remains closed during the monsoon (July–September) for tiger breeding season.
